Story

My name is CJ Ost and I’m raising funds to support my brother Bonham after a life-changing event.

On the night of Monday, May 26th 2025, Bonham was run off the road by an unknown driver and struck a palm tree. The impact and rotation caused by the crash rendered him motionless on site.

Bonham was in the car alone and no one else was involved in the crash.

He was found at the crash site shortly after the collision and was rushed via ambulance to the nearest hospital where he was then scheduled for surgery immediately after scans were completed and it was discovered that he could not feel his legs. The surgery was successful in repairing the breakage in his neck as best as could be, but the damage to soft tissues in his spine and the deviation between vertibrae was too great. Doctors and specialists tell us that he will likely never walk again.

Due to head trauma, Bonham is unable to recollect what happened or determine what could have caused the crash. Our sister, who was following some distance behind him and was the one who first made contact with him after the crash, says she witnessed an erratic driver speeding ahead of her and believes that very driver likely had a direct affect on Bonham’s driving as there were no other vehicles ahead of her on the road at the time. The vehicle in question was not seen at the crash site and we heavily suspect that Bonham was run off of the road by this drunk/reckless driver.

Bonham is an excellent and skilled driver; he’s driven for work across several jobs for over a decade, some of which have required him to travel all over the country. It’s for this reason we are all shocked that his skills weren’t able to help him avoid this tragedy.

What’s most important is, my brother is still alive, we’re all incredibly thankful for this fact, but he’s going to need a great deal of assistance during the coming years and because he lives with my partner, daughters, and I, we’ll need to provide a more accessible space than he has now. We’ll also need to acquire a vehicle that will accomodate his disability, and the time neccessary to care for him will require myself and others to be home with him throughout most of the day until his upper motor functions begin to return, if they return.

The medical burdens this is going to present are far bigger financial hurdles than we’ve ever had to prepare or compensate for. It is for these reasons that I’m reaching out and creating a funding campaign to support Bonham and all of his needs going forward. Our goals are aimed at acquiring a new home and vehicle that will better accomodate my Brother’s condition and ensuring he gets the best care possible through all stages of his path to recovery.

All proceeds will go towards achieving these goals and paying for medical bills for ICU care, rehabilitation, physical therapy, handycapable ammenities, and in-home care for the foreseeable future.

If you know Bonham, myself, or our father, you know that we are very active people. We’ve always relied on what we’re capable of to carry us in life and do not like to be restricted or feel less capable in any way. To us, being paralyzed is the worst condition we could ever have exhibited upon us aside from death, and now, my brother has to experience exactly that. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.

The thing I worry about most now is his mental state. I know in my body, heart, and soul that Bonham is going to struggle a great deal and I’ll need to be there to help him fight nearly all of his battles now.

I love my Brother so much, and I’ll do whatever I can to support him.
If you would like to show your support as well, please donate to our cause. Bonham needs all the help he can get. If you’re unable donate, you can contribute in other ways by sharing the link to this campaign so that others may be able to help support our family as well during this difficult time.

Thank you
